PASSERIFORMES: Petroicidae
Eopsaltria australis
I had seen a Rose Robin just a few minutes earlier, and now here in the same place was a gorgeous Eastern Yellow Robin perching on the side of a tree while it surveyed the area around for signs of insect life.
Just behind me a couple of livid pink Galahs checked out the top of a dead tree, and out in the clearing not many metres away, a bright blue male Superb Fairy-wren bounced around. A pair of multi-hued juvenile Crimson Rosellas flew into the top of a nearby tree and started fussing.
Castlemaine Botanical Gardens is full of colour in winter.
